Inverter Clipping
Inverter clipping is the temporary loss of solar output when panel production exceeds inverter AC capacity.
What inverter clipping means
Inverter clipping happens when solar panels can produce more DC power than the inverter can convert to AC power at that moment. The inverter caps output at its AC rating, so the extra potential production is not exported or used.
A small amount of clipping can be normal in a well-designed system, especially when panels are intentionally sized above inverter capacity. Example
